Caldera de Taburiente is an ancient volcano. The water erosion on its western side created one of the most remarkable geological shape in the world scale. The picture is taken near the highest point in the island, which also hosts the most important European observatory. The place offers excellent conditions for sky observation due to low light pollution in the middle of the ocean and due to the fact, that the clouds rarely ascend to the altitude of two and a half kilometre.
