There are many reasons to visit group of tiny islands hidden in the northern Atlantic ocean. It was the attractivity of the landscape for photography for me which is kind of unique worldwide. Faroe Islands is a small country, yet relatively densely populated. The interesting thing is that being an autonomous part of Denmark, it is not a member of European Union.

This year plan to visit the mysterious Langisjór lake in the Icelandic inland fails in the middle of the desert in front of the traffic sign telling us that any further drive is forbidden. We apparently took off too soon. As a replacement, we enjoyed lots of beautiful views and small hikes during our car trip. Thanks to the all-terrain vehicle we could travel through the Icelandic highlands and…

Laugavegur is the name of the most popular trek in Iceland. I can humbly say that it is the most beautiful of those I visited so far. It surpasses others mainly due to its incredible diversity - in a few days you meet hot springs, the most colourful mountains in the world, glaciers, lava fields, the greenest moss on Earth, black desert, meadows full of flowers, deep canyons and tens of…

This year, the union funds finally opened their pockets, and there was an option to organize a professional expedition to the highest mountains in the world. Our group can afford to hire a local professional guide and being accompanied by one of the best trekkers in the western Europe.

Mont Blanc together with its range is a frequent target for tourists trying to reach the peak as well as climbers who try to conquer one of the most difficult big walls in Europe. It is also a photographer's paradise. While the summit of the mountain is only an ugly piece of snow, the surrounding mountains offer the most dramatic views available in the Alps.

September 2001: threadbare, dirty and hungry young hitchhiker is standing on the road near the Norwegian city of Narvik and is watching sadly the sign marking the byroad to famous Lofoten Islands. Then he turns his head back and sets for the way home. He knows that he is short of time and has to go back to school to pass the exams and not to disappoint his native village, whose residents saved…

This year was not a good year for Nepal indeed. It all begun by the worst earthquake in the last century, followed by a massive decrease of incoming tourists. Finally, neighbouring India blocked the border, and the poor land remained paralyzed without fuel, gas and other necessary resources. Our expedition visits the country mainly for one purpose: we want to announce the good news to the world:…

“Where would you like to go this year?”, ask I at home. “Well, this time to some warm place.” “Excellent,” say I and smile gently to my girlfriend who has no clue about geography at all, “let's go to Iceland then, it is the so-called land of fire and ice, it means it will be warm there.” If I had any idea what punishment would come as an answer to my little joke I would rather go to Somalia.

I had the intention to shoot in Scotland for about the last two years. Together with my friend Pepa Havlin we were probably the last living photographers who did not try their luck there. Initially, we wanted to go in the early February, but finally, we postponed the expedition to half March. And it was a right decision.

When I got an offer to go with a group of friends for a week again to Georgia, I did not hesitate too much. Caucasus Mountains are among the most pleasant I've visited, not only regarding the landscape but also for the proverbial hospitality of local people. I was also wondering how this former part of the Soviet Union develops and last but not least, I wanted to "rephotograph" my last trip there…

Unfortunately, James Cook discovered New Zealand about 200 years earlier than would be appropriate. One of the most beautiful countries in the world is today almost destroyed by the greed of our civilization. On the other hand, it should be noticed that efforts to return the country at least partially to its original state are the world's premium. Travelling in New Zealand is comfortable -…

Sometimes one has just enough of the European life in order, cleanness, and freedom of movement and starts to dream about the opposite. And the best place to fulfil his wishes is the cradle of chaos and dirt - Asia. Well, if Asia then certainly mountains. And if mountains then certainly Nepal. And if Nepal then no doubt to Everest. This time, we spend some time on preparation of the trek and…

I never longed to visit the United States. I saw a lot of it when I was young and watched TV, and I don't like the Anglo-Saxon culture and philosophy of life. But sometimes the destiny just throws you somewhere you do not even know how and you just have to swim. So while we are here, I take the chance and will photograph the national parks in the southwest, which I think are really among the best…

I finally created my first time-lapse video, which I was willing for a long time. In spite of theoretical preparation at home and technical preparation in the last warm place, it was quite hard to manage everything right.
